You believe in your beliefs, or love your religion, and it shuts other human beings out of your box. In reality, everything that you believe is more true for you than it is for anybody else, because you have arrived at that exact belief through realizations that you see as strong evidence. Therein lies some danger - if you are not willing to change, you are not willing to evolve, which means you limit your potential. When your potential is limited, what you are attracting into your life is limited. The only way to live fulfilled is to live limitless, every moment, limitless.

Men in general are too material and do not make enough human contacts. If we search for the fundamentals which actually motivate us we will find that they come under four headings: love, money, adventure and religion. It is to some of them that we always owe that big urge which pushes us onward. Men who crush these impulses and settle down to everyday routine are bound to sink into mediocrity. No man is a complete unit of himself; he needs the contact, the stimulus and the driving power which is generated by his contact with other men, their ideas, and constantly changing scenes.

The community stagnates without the impulse of the individual. The impulse dies away without the sympathy of the community.

Whereas the average individuals "often have not the slightest idea of what they are, of what they want, of what their own opinions are," self-actualizing individuals have "superior awareness of their own impulses, desires, opinions, and subjective reactions in general.

Religion is an illusion and it derives its strength from its readiness to fit in with our instinctual wishful impulses.

If we are not most careful with our thoughts and speech, the words we use will use us. Language has its own ethics, and one who communicates truth is like a bright light in the darkness.

The vagueness of [the Communications Decency Act] raises special First Amendment concerns because of its obvious chilling effect on free speech. . . . The CDA is [also] a criminal statute. . . . The severity of criminal sanctions may well cause speakers to remain silent rather than communicate even arguably unlawful words, ideas, and images.

It takes more time and effort and delicacy to learn the silence of a people than to learn its sounds. Some people have a special gift for this. Perhaps this explains why some missionaries, notwithstanding their efforts, never come to speak properly, to communicate delicately through silences. Although they "speak with the accent of natives" they remain forever thousands of miles away. The learning of the grammar of silence is an art much more difficult to learn than the grammar of sounds.

Effective communication is 20% what you know and 80% how you feel about what you know.

Since Iris is the Greek goddess for the Messenger of Love, her sacred flower is considered the symbol of communication and messages. Greek men would often plant an iris on the graves of their beloved women as a tribute to the goddess Iris, whose duty it was to take the souls of women to the Elysian fields.
