This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for July 29, 2007:
"What I know for sure is that you really don't become what you want. You become what you believe." --Oprah Winfrey
Then she went on to explain that if you take the time to find things about yourself (your body, mind, and personality) that you believe you love, then you'll start to find others, and probably the courage to love things about yourself that you've never thought of loving before, from my own personal experience. It's very powerful to recognize what we love about ourselves - it gives me inspiration every time, and makes me a thousand times more confident that I am able and willing to find or create new things to love about me. The automatic result, also, is that when you're focused on the things you love about yourself, you're able to focus on the things you love about others, whereas if you were focused on what you needed to change about you, what you don't like about yourself, you know you're going to be able to point out all the annoyances in other people. Or, worse yet, you may be the type of person who berates yourself and points out how everyone else around you is better in some way than you. It's a life of misery, and death-wishing. To truly live, you gotta love, each and every moment.

Katrina,
So true! Belief is everything. Belief in yourself as lovable is crucial in loving others. In fact, I believe loving yourself is loving others, since we're all of the same “stuff.”
Thanks
People pay for what they do, and still more for what they have allowed themselves to become. And they pay for it very simply; by the lives they lead.
James Baldwin
